ECCM Services

The Center provides referrals and information about social services, health care, lawyers, immigration, and family counseling. Case workers are available to provide direct counseling for interpersonal, immigration, and employment problems. Job placement assistance is also available.

Ethiopian Community Center empower immigrants from Africa and other countries to become self-sufficient and contributing members of the society.

Immigration

The Ethiopian Community Center (ECCM) has been serving our community since 2013. It continues to grow and reach many other communities with similar needs

Family counseling or Wellness

Family counseling or Wellness is about promoting mental, physical and emotional wellness for our youth and their families. We will achieve this by facilitating conflict resolution and social skills training, providing classes for parents to assist in raising children in America, and providing information about mental, physical and emotional health services available in the community..

Housing

Helped get affordable housings through Montgomery County. Provide initial support to new migrants and refugees upon arrival to settle in their new place by helping them get place to stay, get social security numbers, orientations about the new environment, etc. Helped avoid potential youth homelessness by providing advices, shelter and help.

ESL and Workforce Development Program

This program provides counseling and training to immigrants seeking employment to help them learn and gain the skills necessary to join the American workforce.

Youth Development

The availability of office center and hall enabled us to expand and start new community activities. Formed community soccer teams for kids and youth and inherited adult team.All play with age groups which enable them to interact and socialize. The play fields are also used to educate on how to be good citizens. To continue kid’s/youth activities during winter season, we prepared indoor activities by purchasing valley ball net, balls, tether ball, game sets for kids to play. Formed kids/youth activity committee to organize and lead kids summer and winter activities. These activities also include bringing good role model members and others to encourage kids/youth to learn more, strive to be excellent in whatever they do and to stay away from troubles.n.

Connection

Connection is about creating a sense of community amongst the Ethiopian American youth, fostering strong relationships within the Ethiopian community through social events and community service and fostering a strong cultural identity among Ethiopian American youth.
