Founded in 2013, the Ethiopian Community Center in Maryland (ECCM) was established to uplift Ethiopians, immigrants, and low-income individuals through accessible educational and social services.
For years, ECCM worked to foster self-sufficiency, cultural pride, and community safety, offering resources regardless of age, gender, or background.
ECCM became a place for cultural enrichment, emergency response, professional networking, and information sharing, uniting Ethiopian-Americans and other communities of African descent across Maryland.
We brought together like-minded individuals and organized events to drive social and economic progress while creating a strong sense of identity and connection.
As the needs of our community evolved, so did ECCM. Today, we have transformed into a news and media portal, dedicated to helping retirees, caregivers, and vulnerable populations access timely and relevant updates on government support programs across the U.S. and the U.K.
Our expanded focus includes:
- Social Security, SNAP, and IRS stimulus payments
- Retirement and healthcare assistance
- UK benefits like DWP, PIP, and WASPI pension updates
We now serve a global audience while staying true to our mission of empowerment, education, and support. Whether you’re checking your eligibility for food stamps, tracking your pension benefits, or navigating disability support, ECCM delivers reliable, up-to-date information to help guide you.
Though our format has changed, our heart remains in the community.
ECCM continues to serve, connect, and inform—locally and beyond.
